We LOVE a good BBQ sauce around here. The boys finally love it too! With summer upon us and the new Green Mountain Smoker calling our name I knew I needed to come up with something everyone would love. We have gone to this local BBQ place that makes a Root beer BBQ and its good. BUT its not sugar free and I am really trying to not only cut back the whole families sugar intake but also to loose a few pounds myself. I kinda figured this would take a few tries to make but so far the first try seems to be a winner. I guess Ill keep you updated if I come up with something better? Ha
I have found that I love using Monkfruit sweetener better than most sweeteners. You can find it many places but Thrive Market usually has the best price online for it! Unless you can find it at your Costco or Grocery Outlet (or other local discount store) then that is a better price.
For those that do Trim Healthy Mama this recipe is a FP (but not if you drink it Haha) so you can use it in either an S (like I did with our ribs) or an E with some chicken, quinoa and veggies! You choose how to use and enjoy it!
Here goes!
Ingredients:
- 1 cup Sugar free Ketchup
- 1 cup Zevia Ginger Root Beer
- 1/4 cup water mixed with 1 T Baobab powder
- 2 T Golden Lakanto Monkfruit Sweetner
- 1 t Blackstrap Molasses
- 1 t Garlic powder
- 1 t Paprika
- 1 t Onion powder
- 3 T Worcestershire
Directions:
Add all ingredients to a sauce pan and simmer on the stove (low to medium heat) stirring often until reduced by about half. Let cool and it should help it thicken even more. This should be good in refrigerator for 1-2 weeks.
